Spent some time over the past few days sketching out our travel for 2024 and beyond. There’s nothing better than planning a trip!

2024

January: Quebec Charlevoix to ski

Second time here. It’s a mix of good skiing, great resort, close-ish location, and reasonable price

April: Disney cruise for Julie’s mom’s 75th birthday

I haven’t been on a cruise since I was five years old. This isn’t something I would plan to do myself, but kind of excited to try something new. Happy Birthday, Carol!

July: Kentucky to visit family and drop off kids for two weeks

Kids' annual trip to Kentucky to stay with my parents/give us a chance to be not be parents for two weeks

August: West Coast (Portland to visit friends, Bay Area to visit friends, and LA to visit friends with potential stops at Yosemite and Disneyland)

Will be taking this trip in some form, but need to confirm a few more details before locking it in. What do you think will be more expensive two days at Disneyland or the rest of the trip?

December: post-Christmas trip to Kentucky

Stretching the definition of “No longer traveling for Christmas” in Year 2 of our “No longer traveling for Christmas” policy. My brother will have a new baby and a new house

TBD Late 2024/early 2025: Palm Desert for Julie’s brother’s wedding (and maybe Vegas on the front end?)

Eric proposed to Ani! Now all we need is a date and a location that’s hopefully in proximity to Las Vegas

2025

January/February: Quebec Charlevoix to ski

This (probably) won’t become an annual trip. But until the kids get a bit older it’s a known and well-liked quantity for our annual ski trip

April: Akumal, Mexico for 10-year anniversary

Third time back to where we got married. The giant All Inclusives have been popping up all around Akumal, but as of our last trip in 2022 it still had all the charm that originally made us fall in love with it

Summer: Kentucky to visit family and drop off kids for two weeks

I love my kids more than anything, but these two weeks where they stay with my parents do more to clear my head than almost any other thing all year long

August: Maybe Ireland (if not, beach trip)

We’ve got some friends who have a house about an hour and a half north of Galway. Hoping we can make it out there during this time

Thanksgiving: Europe to ski (if can find a resort that’s open that early in the season)

This one is a stretch goal for two reasons: 1) There’s a lot of travel already this year (i.e. we probably won’t have the $$$) and 2) There aren’t that many (if any!) slopes open this early in the season. I only give this trip about a 20% chance of happening. If it doesn’t happen, I’m betting we’ll do Quebec Charlevoix for a third year in a row in early 2026

Summer: Portugal and Morocco

Julie has always wanted to go to Porto and Marrakech. Hoping to time this while the kids are with my parents. It’ll be about time for a kids-free trip
