Hertz bought these cars about five years too early. EVs are better in almost every way, but they’re still unfamiliar to the vast majority of car renters. People don’t want unfamiliarity when renting a car.
(This story super bums me out for that exact reason. As a longtime EV owner, I’d love to rent a Model 3 instead of a gas car that I haven’t regularly used in years)
